A little about Bambi...

The Bambi Chugg Thomas Healing Hearts Foundation was established in 2003 after Bambi Chugg Thomas gave birth to a beautiful baby girl and was diagnosed with PostPartumCardioMiopathy. After going into heart failure and spending several months in the hospital, she was placed on the waiting list for a heart transplant. With her heart continuing to weaken during her wait, she was implanted with a mechanical heart, nicknamed bi-vad as it pumped blood through both sides of her heart.
For eight months Bambi faught, not only for herself, but for others who needed life saving transplants. She went out into the community and spoke to schools and organizations on the importance of becoming an organ donor. She went to fundraisers and charity functions to raise awareness. All of this, while she was struggling to stay alive.
Bambi never got her heart. She passed away August 20, 2003 due to an aneurysm.
Although Bambi never received her new heart, she warmed the hearts of all who were around her. She was in inspiration to all around her and reminded us all of what being a hero really means.
